A Native Garden Grows in Elizabethtown, NY
In the late summer of 2022, the Adirondack Garden Club began work on a native garden on the grounds of Families First, in Elizabethtown, NY. Families First is a non-profit organization helping families and children in need, so it was a great pleasure for the club’s members to contribute to their very important work by creating a native garden in which their clients and staff could wander and relax. The step-by-step creation of the garden was filmed, and the resulting video series tells the story from genesis to completion, detailing the Club’s motivations to be involved, describing the planting process, explaining the emphasis on native plants, and the importance of public projects such as this one to the local community.
